I saw this on ebay where the prior owner had this to say:”This beautiful instrument (Serial Number 111451) has been carefully maintained, stored and played it’s entire 69 year existence. It has some wear, which is natural considering how great it sounds, you just have to pick it up and play it.

Well this is another 1949 D28 which has had work done to it. The top has a crack on the bass edge off the soundhole and a patch most likely from am impact injury. The bridge is not original and oversized. Below the bridge appears to have suffered from cracks and some belly. The pickguard is a replacement by virtue of being above the finish.

It appears like 1949 is a bad year to be a d28! Check out the other D28 which has also had a lot of work done to it here.

This is a great 30th Anniversary Lowden with that figured Pearwood back and sides. Apologies for the low resolution pics, we are trying to obtain better ones. Nevertheless, the former owner had this to say:

“This is number 16 of the 30-issue George Lowden 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Guitar. Ungigged and rarely but lovingly played, this guitar is in mint condition. And it plays and sounds like a dream.

Made from beautifully figured pearwood for the back and sides, it also features a high-grade sitka spruce top, mahogany/rosewood neck, ebony fingerboard, walnut binding and Gotoh machines..

It has also been fitted at the Lowden workshop with a high quality Headway pickup. It comes in an unmarked hardshell lite-flite case and has full certification and provenance paperwork. Its final setup was tested and adjusted by George himself. I was there when he did it!”

This is a great O sized Lowden from the Bangor period when operations moved back to Ireland and George was fully in charge. This guitar has the slightly smaller cream oval label with green edge. The new Lowden logo is evident in the headstock decal. The owner has this to say:

“This is a pristine Lowden L25C #790. Rosewood back and sides, Ceder top, Ebony fingerboard, Five piece neck.  The L-25 is often thought of as “the Lowden guitar.”  The current Lowden model that corresponds to the “L” in shape and size is the “O”,  meaning “original” shape which was the “L.”. The width at the nut is 1.3/4″ and the action at the 12th fret is 1/8″.  This is a very large guitar, with a deep and incredibly resonant sound.  It is the largest size that Lowden makes and is identical to the “O”.   It is signed by George Lowden on a cream colored, oval label with green trim, sometimes called the “New Lowden Logo.”

According to Lowden’s website, it was made in Ireland (Balloo Ind. Est. workshops, Bangor, Co Down, Northern Ireland) between 1985 and 1989. I am the original owner of this guitar.  It has rarely, if ever left the house, never played on gigs.  Has the original green hard shell case with gold interior in great condition.  This guitar is still not fully broken in !  I am a nylon string player and never got into playing this guitar much, as it was given to me as a gift.  Therefore, it has been sitting in its case for over 20 years, being strummed just occasionally.”
