The Aaron Green says: “This guitar is one of 25 guitars he built for his 25th anniversary as a luthier. The guitar was owned by my client who purchased it new. He passed away and I have sold his guitars on behalf of his widow. This guitar features a special rosette and label which are unique to the 25th anniversary guitars. The headstock is carved ebony in the pattern of a shield and garland. The workmanship is first rate, the materials are first rate and the sound is very impressive to say the least. Very powerful first string and clear with a fast response. The original owner played flamenco as well as classical so this guitar was fit with a tap plate. It has a few scratches and dings but nothing serious, the original french polish is in great shape”

Here is a beautiful Jack Spira custom redwood tiger myrtle built for me in 2009.

This is Jack’s 200th guitar and it is spectacular. The detail on this guitar is amazing down to wenge tuners.

It plays like butter with a beautiful clear tone and smooth deep low end.

Check out the gidgee fretboard and spalted maple abolone rosettes. It is in like new condition

This is an OM size Brondel model, featuring a wonderful cedar top and Laurent’s first venture into the world of soundports, and boy does it pay off. This guitar is loud, sweet, refined, responsive. It’s a joy to play all over the fretboard. The tone tends more towards a modern fingerstyle sound, with plenty of overtones, sustain and a less woody, traditional feel, but we are confident that any player would find this guitar beguiling and rewarding.
Construction is immaculate.

This is one of Laurent’s “essential” range, which are priced more affordably, but it lacks nothing. Appointments may be somewhat simpler, everything else is all there. Especially the TONE. One of the best fingerstyle guitars we have seen, c’est maqnifique!

John Kinnaird is producing some of the best value guitars out there in terms of bang for buck. This lovely 000-12 fret has a lovely bell-like chime from the superb quality Adirondack red spruce top, coupled with loads of power and headroom. I play it hard with a fat pick, but it responds equally well, if not even better, to a gentle, more lyrical touch. The rosewood gives it plenty of depth and overtones, and it has a friendly, woody quality to the tone. The appointments are lovely, the woods used are beautiful, and the sound is mature and winning. A great all-rounder, and outstanding value when you take the cutaway and red spruce top into account. This guitar is priced at his old price. $2900

Goodacoustics have a long history of carrying John Greven guitars and they often get some really nice Grevens in stock- this J White Lady is just one of those special instruments with the Smokies Adirondack top and that lovely Maple back and sides! This is what the good folks at Goodacoustics had to say about this guitar:

“This was a long time in the planning. I managed to convince John Greven to go back in time when his White Lady and J models were most popular. Perhaps making this guitar a re-issue of sorts! I’ve played a few of John’s maple Js and they have always been very balanced with good warmth (especially for maple) and a superb recording instrument- ask John Denver or Mary Chapin Carpenter!

John paired a Smokies Adirondack top from my stash with a great set of flamed maple from his. Throw in the White Lady level of trim: Abalone top and back purfling, carved heel, birds inlay and it one tasty guitar.”

John Greven had this to say: “The guitar has a big, warm voice with just a touch of edge at the top. ounds to me like a really good old J-200. A really good one…”

Guitarbench staff had the chance to try out the original Greven Travel guitar some years ago and it was a really, really good guitar in it’s own right and we were impressed with the simplicity of the detachable neck. We heard about another, improved version ordered by our friends at goodacoustics and here it is, finally! This is what the folks at goodacoustics.com have to say:

“In 2002, we asked John Greven to help us build a travel guitar with a detachable neck and a small footprint… oh and a humongous sound. He responded with a spruce/maple single O sized monster with a single bolt controlled neck. The guitar sounded unbelievably good and the neck mechanism worked perfectly!

So this is a mark 2 in many respects. Although with the same spruce/maple combination, we have pushed the limits of this model with a tight grained Smokies Adirondack top. The neck is now mahogany for better balance and the neck joint has been refined by John to the point of near perfection. Earlier pinless bridge has given way to a more traditional pinned bridge for better safety.”

John Greven had this to say about the guitar: ” Sounds really good and plays like butter. Crisp, has a nice pop to the notes, is full for a small box.”
