This is a good example of a D28 from the 40′s. One of ___ made that year, it has the narrower nut width of 1 11/16″ and just missed out on Herringbone purfling. Although it has suffered less than the other 40′s D28s (see resource box at end for links) it has not escaped without some overspray and bridge shaving.
John at Music resource, where this guitar was previously for sale, had this to say:”This is an original 1947 Martin D-28 that we are selling for one of our customers. The top has been oversprayed, and the bridge may have been planed down. In twenty five years in this business, it is among the top three acoustics have stood out in my memory, and this one is the one on top.”
